mano-cromos is a play on words derived from the term monochrome, a concept that is deeply present in Yves Klein’s work. Taking photographs of Klein’s hands covered in pigment as a starting point, Guillermo Mora has created this edition, in which the metal plate itself serves as the support for the color through a series of magnetized paint fragments.
Ultramarine, magenta, and gold—three essential colors in Yves Klein’s oeuvre—can be freely moved across Guillermo Mora’s hands. This edition is conceived as a work of endless assembly and reassembly, a game of constant yet ever-changing compositions. The magnetic properties of the colored paint fragments allow them to be placed anywhere on the surface, generating continually new combinations and chromatic relationships.
